Coal Mines

The mines and open-pits operated by JSC SUEK are located in six regions of Russia, namely: Kuzbass, Buryatia, Khakasia, Krasnoyarsk region, Khabarovsk region and Zabaikalye.

Buryatia

Buryatia is located in the Eastern part of Siberia not too far from the lake Baikal.

JSC SUEK operates 2 open-pits with annual production about 12 MT per year. Tugnuisky open-pit is producing both – washed and unwashed coal dedicated for export sales, Nikolsky open-pit is at its early development stage.

Tugnuisky Open-Pit

  • The annual production is about 12 MT of raw high-volatile coal, about 10 MT of which (both unwashed and washed steam coal) is delivered for export.
  • In 2009 a new washing plant was started in order to embark the washing of Tugnuisky coal on. The volume of washed coal production is 5.0 – 5.5 MT per year Average NAR CV of the washed product is about 5,700 Kcal/kg.

Kuzbass

The biggest producing area of export coal in Russia is Kuzbass region. In 2017, the Kusbass mines produced all together about 241.5 MT of different types of coal, about 140.7 MT of which were exported by sea and rail.

JSC SUEK operates 9 underground and 2 open-pit mines in Kuzbass region gaining the production output of about 39.0 MT per year. In 2017 SUEK AG`s sold internationally 24.7 MT of coal produced by SUEK-Kuzbass.

Yalevsky mine (including Kotinskaya Mine)

  • The annual production is about 10.0 MT of high volatile coal, about 9.0 MT of which are exported (steam coal).

Taldinskaya-Zapadnaya Mine No. 1

  • The annual production is about 3.2 MT of high volatile coal, about 3.0 MT of which are exported (both washed and unwashed steam coal).

Taldinskaya-Zapadnaya Mine No. 2

  • The annual production is about 2.6 m MT of high volatile coal, about 2.4 MT of which are exported (both washed and unwashed steam coal).

Zarechniy Open-Pit

  • The annual production is about 4.7 MT of high volatile coal, about 2.6 MT of which are exported (steam coal).
  • Few years ago a new washing plant has been placed in order to embark the washing of T-Z No.1 and T-Z No.2 coal on. From 2017 the volume of exportable washed coal is expected up to 1.0 MT per year.

Kirova Mine

  • The annual production is about 5.0 MT of high volatile coal, about 3.0 MT of which are exported (semi-soft and steam coal).
  • Kirova mine has its own washing plant with 2 units, having total washing capacity 6 MT per annum.

Komsomolets Mine

  • The annual production is about 2.5 MT of high volatile coal, about 1.9 MT of which are exported (both semi-soft and steam coal).
  • Komsololets mine has its own washing plant with annual capacity 2.5 MT per annum.

Polysaevskaya Mine

  • The annual production is about 2.3 MT of high volatile coal, about 1.5 MT of which are exported (steam coal).
  • Polysaevskaya mine has its own washing plant with annual capacity 2 MT per annum.

Rubana Mine

  • The annual production is about 2.0 MT of high volatile coal, about 1.3 MT of which are exported (steam coal). Coal is being washed at one the units of Kirova washing plant.

Magistralny Mine (new built mine, in operation since Dec 2017)

  • The annual production is about 4.0 MT of high volatile coal, about 3.0 MT of which are exported (steam coal). Coal partially is being washed at Polysaevskaya washing plant.

Khakasia

This region’s location is southern part of Siberia in the middle of the Russian Federation close to the Kuzbass region and Krasnoyarsk region.

JSC SUEK operates 4 open-pit mines there, gaining the production output of about 12.5 MT per year. Only 2 enterprises among them, mine coal suitable for export deliveries.

Chernogorskaya Coal Company

  • The annual production is about 7.0 MT of high-volatile coal, about 4.0 MT of which are exported as steam coal and sized coal (size: 6-25 mm, 25-60 mm, 60-130 mm).
  • Chernogorskaya Ugolnaya Company has its own washing plant with 8.0 MT of washing capacity per annum.

Vostochno-Beisky Opencast mine

  • The annual production is about 3.5 MT of high volatile coal, about 1.6 MT of which are exported as steam coal and sized coal (size: 25-50 mm, 50-200 mm).

Krasnoyarsk region

This region is located in the middle of Siberia.

JSC SUEK operates 3 open-pits there gaining the production output of about 30 MT per year, among which about 2.0 MT of brown coal are delivered for export.

Khabarovsk region

This region is located in the Far East of the Russian Federation.

JSC SUEK operates only one enterprise there – JSC Urgalugol which includes one underground mine and one open-pit mine. Production volume is about 8.0 MT of steam coal per year of which about 5.0 MT of high-volatile coal are delivered for export.

Recently a new washing plant has been placed in order to embark the washing of Urgalsky coal on. From 2016 the volume of washed coal available for export is about 2.5 MT per year.

Zabaikalye region

This region is located in the Eastern part of Siberia.

JSC SUEK operates one open-pit mine there – Apsat, producing about 1.0 MT of middle volatile coal thermal and coking per year of which about 0.4 MT of coal are delivered for export.
